Mirai Foundation Restoring Hope Through Education
At Mirai Foundation, we believe every child deserves the chance to build a brighter future. Inspired by the Japanese word for “hope,” our mission is to support less privileged children in Uganda by giving them access to quality education, healthcare, food and housing. With your support, we can unlock opportunities and transform lives—one child at a time. Dr. Shayma Albannay
Founder, Mirai Foundation
Dr. Shayma Albannay is an Emirati scholar, philanthropist, and advocate for children’s education. Holding a PhD, she is passionate about helping others and creating opportunities for those facing difficult circumstances.
Helping others has always been one of Dr. Shayma’s dreams and is deeply rooted in her Islamic values of نشر الخير والسلام — spreading goodness and peace, and الناس للناس — people are there for one another. She believes that giving is not only an act of kindness, but a way of sharing goodness, hope, and opportunity with others.
Her love for Japan, where she spent four years studying, inspired the name Mirai, meaning future in Japanese. The name reflects her vision of giving children the opportunity to learn, grow, and build a brighter future through education.
Peace is another value at the heart of Dr. Shayma’s vision. The ✌
symbol has always been her favorite gesture—one she naturally makes in photographs—and to her it represents a belief she carries deeply: peace can change everything.
Together, Mirai — the future — and ✌ — peace — represent the spirit of the foundation: creating brighter futures through education, compassion, and service.
